Apple's official guide for downgrading iCloud+ storage.
Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
Tap your name at the top → tap Subscriptions.
Find iCloud+ in your active subscriptions list and tap it.
Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm. Your storage downgrades to the free 5GB plan at the end of your billing period.
If you can't find the option, Apple's privacy portal can help.
15GB free, 100GB for $1.99/mo. Works on any device.
2GB free. Good for documents, less for photos.
Back up iPhone to Mac/PC via Finder or iTunes. Free, unlimited.
Your storage drops to 5GB. Data over 5GB isn't immediately deleted — iCloud stops syncing new data. You have about 30 days to download files before they may be removed. Photos, backups, and iCloud Drive all count toward the 5GB limit.
Download your photos to your device or computer first. Enable 'Download Originals' in Settings → Photos before canceling. Once downloaded locally, your photos are safe regardless of iCloud status.
iCloud+ plans: 50GB = $0.99/mo, 200GB = $2.99/mo, 2TB = $9.99/mo, 6TB = $29.99/mo, 12TB = $59.99/mo. The free tier includes 5GB.
Apple generally doesn't refund iCloud+ subscriptions. You keep the storage until the billing period ends. For billing errors, contact Apple Support or use reportaproblem.apple.com.
TrialHero tracks your subscriptions and alerts you before free trials expire. 100% private.
